I don't believe that in order for someone to have knowledge, everyone must share the same veiw of everything. It is not what others believe to be true that is going to get you through life and make it meaningful. It is your own actions, understandings, interpretations and perceptions. Argue that a kind deed by another person can make your life meaningful, but that is only if you view the act to be kind. You might find it rude but they believe they are doing something nice. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and so is everything else. For example, you see an apparently homeless person sitting on the sidewalk leaned against the wall. You think, "I will do them a favour and give them some money." To most people, this would be veiwed as a kind deed, but to the homeless person they might veiw it as rude. What if they aren't actually homeless? You might walk away with a warm feeling in your heart because you believe you did a good thing but that person may feel grateful, angry, sad, embaressed, joyous, shocked, perturbed, or a vast variety of other emotions. You think you had the knowledge that that was a kind thing but it may very well not be.

"You think you had the knowledge that that was a kind thing but it may very well not be." If you THINK you "know" something which proves to be false, it is only a belief. Do you not agree with the conclusion that our class came to that knowledge can only be based on truth? You are correct that for someone to have knowledge not everyone must share their view. The person who's view is correct has both belief and knowledge because knowledge is defined as justified TRUE belief. On the other hand, those who are incorrect have only belief. While beliefs are not universally shared, truths are.
